NaVorro Bowman is going to get the opportunity to lead the NFL in tackles for the next four or five years.
In Chip Kelly’s three years as the Eagles head coach, his defenses were on the field for more plays than any other team, with the defense playing enough downs for three-more full games this season.
When asked about the potential for an increase in usage, Bowman chalked it up to setting a certain standard.
“Nah, I think people are blowing it out of proportion,” Bowman said, via NFL.com. “I think any defense you play in, if your offense is getting off the field quicker than you gotta get off the field quicker. You gotta hold yourself to that standard.”
The 49ers defense spent a lot of time on the field last season, so Bowman and company should be used to a high volume of plays.
