Adidas Offering $1 Million to Any NFL Prospect That Breaks Chris Johnson's 40-Yard Dash Record

It suck for the big guys, but a skill position player willing to sign with the company could be sitting on some hefty bank before ever getting drafted.

Adidas confirmed on Tuesday that they’ll offer $1 million to any NFL Draft prospect who can break the 40-yard-dash record at the Scouting Combine.

If at the 2016 NFL Combine, Athlete: (1) wears adidas footwear (“adidas Footwear”) during the 40-yard dash workout; and (2) based on NFL official times, breaks the all-time NFL Combine record (including any record set during the 2016 NFL Combine by someone other than Athlete) for the fastest time of any position during the 40-yard workout, then adidas agrees to pay Athlete One Million Dollars ($1,000,000). If there is a tie with respect to the NFL official times of the fastest 40-yard dash of all-time by Athlete and any other athlete(s) that wear adidas Footwear at the 2016 NFL Combine, then the One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) shall be divided equally by Athlete and any such athlete(s). Further, Athlete is only eligible to win the One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) in connection with the 2016 NFL Combine one (1) time (e.g., Athlete cannot break the all-time record in his first attempt and earn the One Million Dollars ($1,000,000), then break the record again in his second attempt and earn a second One Million Dollars ($1,000,000)). If any time in the 40-yard dash workout, specifically including Athlete’s, is disqualified by the NFL for any reason, then it shall not be considered or eligible to qualify to win the One Million Dollars ($1,000,000). Subject to adidas’ standard payment procedure, any payment earned shall be payable within thirty (30) days of adidas’ receipt of an invoice from Athlete. Athlete shall be solely responsible for the payment of all taxes on any payments received under this Agreement. This offer shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon. Any dispute arising out of or related to this offer shall be submitted to a mutually agreed upon mediator for non-binding confidential mediation in Portland, Oregon. If the dispute cannot be resolved through mediation, it shall be submitted to final, binding and confidential arbitration before the Arbitration Service of Portland in Portland, Oregon. Athlete hereby agrees and consents to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of any state or federal court located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Chris Johnson holds the record with a time of 4.24 seconds in 2008 coming out of East Carolina.
