The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the finalists for its 2016 class, led by Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal.
The twelve finalists include Sheryl Swoopes, Kevin Johnson, Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan, Lefty Driesell, Muffet McGraw, Darell Garrettson, Robert Hughes, Leta Andrews, John McLendon, Eddie Sutton and the Wayland Baptist University team that won 131 consecutive games from 1953-58 and 10 AAU National Championships overall.
Iverson. regarded as pound-for-pound the best player ever, made seven All-NBA teams, including three First Team selections. Iverson also won Rookie of the Year and a league MVP. He finished his career 12th in steals, 23rd in points, and has the seventh highest scoring average in league history.
