With this year being the 20th anniversary since Michael Jordan starred in "Space Jam," it only makes sense why Jordan Brand is bringing out the famous Air Jordan 11 colorway made for the movie.
It's been reported for months that the Space Jam 11s, which last released in December 2009, would be making a comeback in 2016. However, this year's holiday release will be much different, according to Modern-Notoriety.
The shoe will be a lot different from the 2009 release, and it will have more of an OG look to them. Not only will the Jumpman be more of a purple-ish color, it will also be facing the opposite way on the left shoe just like the original 11s did in 1996.
In addition, the back heel tab will be stitched. First reports indicated the usual No. 23 on the back, but new pictures released with the shoe having the No. 45 on the back, the number Jordan wore when he made his first NBA comeback.
With that said, this year's holiday release is more of a Space Jam PE. No Jordan has ever released to the public with the No. 45 on the back. Many sneakerheads have been asking for it, and it looks like we may finally get it this year.
Expect these to release sometime in December for a retail price of $220.
