If Jim Harbaugh does get the Michigan Wolverines to the College Football Playoffs and a return to college football’s elite, remember the shrewd move to go beyond just signing a contract with Nike, but being the first team to wear the Jordan Brand outright.
To commemorate the historic deal, the NBA’s GOAT will return to college, serving as the honorary captain for the Wolverines season opener Sept. 3 opener against Hawaii, coach Jim Harbaugh revealed Friday on “The Rich Eisen Show.”
“Coach has been the one talking to [Jordan] and extended the invite,” a university spokesman told ESPN.
Jordan will reportedly address the team as well.
Michigan signed a deal with Nike in April for $173.8 million, with both the football and basketball program taking part.
