It didn’t take long for Jahlil Okafor to get up to speed on the wild-wild west style of gunplay that goes on here in Philadelphia.
I’m not sure how serious the altercation was between Jahlil Okafor and the men who pulled guns on him, but according to this TMZ report, the 76ers center could have been killed on that October night.
According to the report, a drunk Jahlil was struggling to even walk down the street on October 4th, when he randomly started banging on the back window of a black tinted out Camaro.
One of the drivers got out the car and either punched or pistol-whipped Okafor, causing him to fall in the street. A second man reportedly stood over Okafor gun drawn, before an officer drew his weapon and shouted, “Police … get on the ground, drop the gun.”
The two men ran off, guns left behind. If not for the park rangers or the assailants possibly recognizing the 76ers star, that might have gone really bad.
Hopefully his negative phase has passed, but it could have really ended horribly for Okafor on that October night, especially in this city.
