According to Devil Ball Golf, an Alabama golfer named Bob Kurtz plays 500 holes of golf…in a row! He will now be known as Golf’s Iron Man, as what Devil Ball Golf says.
It was said that Kurtz played 500 holes of golf all in 39 hours. And it wasn’t day after day, the hours were consecutive! That means he played 27 18-hole rounds of golf and one 14-hole rounds of golf.
And don’t start feeling so tough that you think you can do it because guess what? Kurtz is 68 years old! 68!
But Kurtz did this for a good reason, as he raised $40K so charities. But this isn’t the first time he has done this, according to his site a GolfsIronMan.com. He played 405 holes of golf last year from 5:01 a.m. to 7:48 p.m.
Devil Ball Golf asked how Kurtz felt after finishing the last (500th) hole on the golf course:
“Ticked off!” Kurtz laughs. “I had a six-foot putt for birdie, and I pulled it. But then I remembered what I was there for, I tapped in, and everybody began to applaud.”
Kurtz says he goes on the driving range every day to his 300-500 golf balls, which is certainly a lot of balls. The most I have ever done was 100 but I can never go 300-500 balls.
But anyone can do that.
But Kurtz actually hit the ball and it did go pretty far. It says that Kurtz averages a score of 72 in the morning and 77 in the afternoon. And during his 500-hole shootout, he finished every round as little as 53 minutes!
Dang.
Kurtz says he is going for another challenge and will try to break another record: playing 2,000 holes a week. He’ll get it. And if a 68-year-old guy can do it, anything is possible.
Seriously!
