Former Central Florida running back Latavius Murray, has been told that the Syracuse Orange football program doesn't need him.
Murray, who played as a true freshman for the Golden Knights, tore his ACL when he informed head coach George O'Leary he wanted out.
The ex-Onondaga High School star, had said that he wanted to transfer to Syracuse and would be willing to be either a running back or linebacker.
A Syracuse assistant informed Murray on Friday night that the school would not offer him a scholarship, but he could walk onto the team if he so wished.
Talking about the rejection, Murray said, "Disappointed. Disappointed. I would have liked to have come home and played for the hometown and try and be a part of this rebuilding. But you know what? It was their decision. What happens, happens."
Murray has also stated that he intends to wait it out and not walk onto the program.
Currently, the Orange have injury-prone senior Delone Carter, sophomore Antwon Bailey who played last year as a true freshman. Averin Collier and Michael Jones also sophomores, complete the Orange's stable of running backs.
