The Phoenix Coyotes held their annual Halloween party. Raffi Torres seemed like the highlight of the night, dressing up as Jay-Z.
But boy, what criticism came up. More like racism.
As you can see, Torres actually made his skin dark, like the rapper; which led to the criticism. Torres was accused of "blackface."
Player, Paul Bissonnette, then tweeted this, defending Torres:
Says Canucks Army:
Maybe Torres will think wiser of what he'll wear for Halloween next year.

But it still isn't right. As far as everyone trying to call "Racism" because Raffi dressed up like Jay-Z can simmer down. He's a huge Jay-Z fan.
Says Canucks Army:
Seriously people, don't do it, don't wear black-face on Halloween, or ever. It's stupid, it's ignorant, and it just doesn't fly. [...]However, Torres is Mexican and Peruvian, actually one of the first in NHL, despite he looks white. But in my opinion, you just can't do it.
Even if Raffi's halloween costume bears little resemblance to the blackface of minstrel shows, the subject is too loaded to be a source of humour. It's off limits.
Maybe Torres will think wiser of what he'll wear for Halloween next year.
