No. 5 Oklahoma's loss to No. 22 Baylor Saturday night proves that the Big 12 is the most competitive conference in college football, and that it will reign supreme this bowl season.

If this seems like a shocking admission, just check the current conference standings.

Sure, the Big East is a logjam with all eight teams separated by no more than three games, but the quality is far below that of the Big 12.

The Big 12 boasts four BCS top 25 teams, and eight teams that are currently bowl eligible. Nine out of the 10 teams in the conference have at least five wins, while eight have winning records.

With the exception of 2-9 Kansas, the Big 12 could potentially send every team to a bowl game this winter. Now that's domination.

No other conference even comes close to that. The SEC may be the best conference in football, but it's top heavy.

The SEC East is down again this season, while only five SEC teams have more than four conference wins this year.

The Big 12's combination of quality competition and superb talent make it the premier bowl conference in 2011-12.

Oklahoma will only build upon this argument when they travel to Stillwater on Dec. 3 to take on the 10-1 Oklahoma State Cowboys, who are in danger of losing the conference after starting 2011 10-0.

A Sooners win would give them the conference crown and a birth in the Fiesta Bowl this January. They will expose an undefeated Houston Cougars team, while the rest of the Big 12 dominates the college football bowl landscape.
