After already breaking the career receptions record in FBS history, Oklahoma wide receiver Ryan Broyles had a good chance to break the receiving yards record as well for this season. However, those chances have faded after All-American injured his ACL versus Texas A&M today, ruling him out for the season.

Broyles made a 30-yard catch in the third quarter. He started bursting into tears after the doctors told him the news on the sideline.

"It's just a bad deal," quarterback Landry Jones said. "You hate for something like that to happen to such a good guy."

"He's such a special, special player," coach Bob Stoops said. "It's deflating for him and for all of us. ... Your heart drops when you first hear it."

Broyles broke the FBS receptions record held by Taylor Stubblefield from Purdue (316), with 349 catches. Broyles had a good chance of breaking the receiving yards record held by Trevor Insley of Neveda, as he was only less than 500 yards away.

Broyles was rumored to leave for the NFL Draft this off-season but decided to stay with the Sooners for his senior season. Sadly, this happened. However, he finishes his senior year strong with 83 catches for 1,157 yards and ten touchdowns.

I wish the best to Broyles as he starts his NFL career in April.
