John Elway has said this for a while, in that Tim Tebow needs to improve more on his passing and converting on third downs in order to be a much better quarterback in the NFL.
However, many have been criticizing Elway for what he has been saying about Tebow. I mean, after all, the way Tebow has been playing has led the team to a 5-5 record so far, and 4-1 under Tebow.
But then again, Elway has a point. Tebow does need to improve. If he can play like this and win, just imagine what he can once he starts get things going in passing and third-down conversions. I mean, he can't just always be Ryan Leaf for the first 55 minutes and then Joe Montana the last five. It's gonna work every time.
Tebow has a 44.8 completion percentage, along with 23.6 percent of third-down conversions.
Mike McCoy, Denver's offensive coordinator, has a different opinion; saying that Tebow's passing is an effort by him, but the third-conversions relies on the whole team:
But Tebow agrees and that he has to improve.
"We have to put ourselves in good situations to manage and be able to pick it up," Tebow said. "We just have to play more consistent on more first and second down plays to be in good positions to execute on third down."
I think once Tebow gets his passing game correctly, he can be unstoppable.

"I think we've got to, as a whole, all 11 guys, do a better job of executing it whether we're running the ball or throwing it. ... We've got to do a better job planning, possibly, and making some adjustments here and there as the game goes along. It's all of us, we've got to all do a better job."Many have been thinking Elway does not like Tebow. However, he cleared the heat on a local Denver station: "Am I hopeful that Tim Tebow is our guy? I am very hopeful that Tim Tebow is our guy. Am I absolutely positive at this point in time? No, I'm not. But I want to believe that and that's what I want to happen."
