According to ESPN.com, the Baltimore Orioles have dealt pitcher Jeremy Guthrie to the Colorado Rockies. In exchange, the Orioles will receive reliever Matt Lindstrom and right-hander Jason Hammel from Colorado.
Guthrie struggled last season, having the most losses in the American League with 17. He also had a 4.33 ERA. The 33-year-old pitcher turns 33 in April, signed a one-year $8 million deal with the Rockies.
Guthrie says he was surprised that he was dealt.
"This past month, month and a half, I was trying to concentrate on resolving my contract and preparing the case for it. So I think it is a huge surprise," he told the Sun. "The timing is not what anyone, myself included, would have expected. There are times when trades occur more frequently, and this wasn't one I was prepared for."
Hopefully you'll do better in Colorado, Jeremy. Best of luck.
