Instead of the traditional NFL kickoff game starting on a Thursday, this season will be slightly different as it kicks off on September 5th, a Wednesday.
Now why is this happening? To avoid a conflict. The NFL will have the game a day before due to Barack Obama's speech on September 6 at the Democratic National Convention.
The Super-Bowl champion Giants will be hosting the game at 8:30 PM, but the opponent has not been named yet.
The NFL changed the rules to have opening-season games on Thursday in 2002, and it will be the first time they have a game on Wednesday since September 22, 1948.
