A lot of news has been going on lately around Boston Celtics' point guard, Rajon Rondo. As reports have said, Rondo has been a headcase for the C's as he has had troubles numerous times with head coach Doc Rivers before.

Since last season or so, Rondo has shown that he could be the future of this team and has already established himself as one of the top point guards in the league. The latest rumor has indicated that the Celtics could be in associations with the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers.

For the Hawks, they are looking for a needed veteran leader along with shipping Josh Smith, who has requested a trade before. As for the Lakers, they are in a dying need of a point guard to help out Kobe Bryant. As HoopsAuthority.com said it, the perfect trade could be this:

Celtics Get: Pau Gasol, Josh Smith, Kirk Hinrich
Lakers Get: Rajon Rondo, Marvin Williams
Hawks Get: Kevin Garnett, Metta World Peace, Steve Blake

Honestly, this is a pretty good trade in my opinion. Hoops Authority made a solid point in the article, saying that the C's getting Smith could help them get Dwight Howard, as one of his best friends is the Hawks' forward. And adding that with Gasol, they'd be a pretty damn good team.

However, I'm not here to discuss how good a trade would be. Would the Celtics in the first place even deal Rondo? Why would they? Getting Howard is a longshot, in my opinion. Sure, they will get Smith and Gasol, but who's the point guard left? Kirk Hinrich is definitely not the future and who knows if Avery Bradley or E'twaun Moore can develop so quickly to become starter?

For the Celtics, they are looking at this wrong if they decide to go this path. Listen, many franchises have had troubles before with their star player. For example: Kobe Bryant. He was in trade rumors before, and it finally stopped. I think Boston should keep Rondo. In my opinion, they should turn towards him as the future of this organization and build around him.

With that, the Celtics got a young team for the future. I could definitely see Rondo, Moore, JaJuan Johnson, and possibly a free agent for the future of the team once Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Garnett finally call it quits.

Rondo just seems too good of a player to just be let go. He's averaging basically a double-double per game with a 14-10. Why trade Rondo when you got guys at the end of their careers in the Big Three? Basically, he's all you got and he's in his prime at 26 years old. He may be a very poor three-point shooter, but he has improved this season overall with 48.5% from the field.

Thinking Boston is better off with Rondo is ridiculous, unless if they are actually getting something good in return. Getting Josh Smith and/or Pau Gasol will not work at all. For the C's, they should let this play out and wait until what Pierce, Allen, and KG do. Besides, they still have a chance at Howard this off-season. Who wouldn't like a one-two punch of Rondo and Superman?

Should the Celtics deal Rajon Rondo? What do you think?
