A lot of hype has been surrounding the New York Jets after they made their trade earlier this week for Denver Broncos quarterback, Tim Tebow.
Team owner, Woody Johnson, said that the move for Tebow was not because of his publicity and huge fanbase. He said acquiring the multi-talented QB was strictly a football move.
Johnson, like many others on the Jets staff have clarified, said that Mark Sanchez will remain the starter, but he plans to use Tebow in different situations. He also thinks the situation between the two will not be a problem.
"Tim Tebow will be a good addition to the team," Johnson said. "From a football standpoint, he adds flexibility, versatility, he's a great athlete and he's a big athlete. He can do a lot of things besides being the backup quarterback. I think all of those thing are going to make us a better and stronger team going forward. I'm excited to have him on board."
"I'm really not," Johnson said if he worries that Tebow and Sanchez would be a problem. "They know each other. Being an NFL quarterback is one of the hardest jobs you can have from a pressure standpoint, from an athletic standpoint, etc. Pressure is something that Mark has no problem with and neither does Tim Tebow from what I gather."
