Amare Stoudemire's back has had some problems as far as remember back in April when he got injured in the opening round to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Playoffs. After the injury, Stoudemire couldn't go back to his normal level as the New York Knicks lost the series.

Last night with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter in a game against the Detroit Pistons, Stoudemire told coach Mike Woodson that he was experiencing stiffness in his lower back.

Uh oh.

"I am concerned about Amare," Woodson tells Jared Zwerling of ESPN New York. "But we'll evaluate it, see how he feels tomorrow and hopefully we continue to have some blowouts so guys can rest."

Stoudemire said that stiffness he has felt was rare throughout the season, but now it has risen.

"I don't know how bad it is until he's evaluated," Woodson said. "I'm sure if it was a close game, he probably would've come back and played. But tomorrow will be a different day. We'll see how he feels tomorrow and go from there."

STAT is currently averaging 18 points and eight rebounds on the season as the Knicks continue to improve under their interim head coach.

Hopefully his back isn't as bad as what it appears to be.
