NFL Free Agency 2012: New Orleans Saints Sign Curtis Lofton

 

According to the Associated Press, the New Orleans Saints have agreed to a five-year contract with former Falcons linebacker, Curtis Lofton. 

Lofton, 25, was coming off a stellar season with 147 tackles along with two interceptions. Now he will join the division rival Saints to help boost their defense. 

"Curtis is a versatile, hard-working player that has displayed a knack for being around the football, and more importantly, making plays on the ball," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said in a statement released Saturday night. "He has the ability to play all three linebacker positions and we feel that he's just entering the prime of his career. We think he can come to New Orleans and fit in well and provide us with a significant contribution to our defense."

It's a great move for New Orleans, and with the possibility of a heavy suspension for Jonathan Vilma, their linebacking corps gets some help.
