Matt Flynn's path to being a starting quarterback in the NFL has now begun after the former Packers backup QB signed a three-year, $26 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks today, with $10 million guaranteed.
Flynn was picking between the Miami Dolphins and the Seahawks of where he would go. He visited Seattle on Friday and went to Miami yesterday. With the possibility now of Alex Smith heading to South Beach, it seemed like the right idea to bolt to Seattle.
Flynn had a chance to join Joe Philbin in Miami, his former offensive coordinator in Green Bay.
However, Flynn still needs to win the starting QB job as he faces Tarvaris Jackson. I'm a huge T-Jax supporter, but it seems likely that Flynn is going to win this unless Jackson proves otherwise.
The Seahawks have been in this situation before on bringing in former Green Bay backups. The first time was Matt Hasselbeck in 2001, and it turned out pretty well. We'll see what Flynn can bring to the table.
What do you think? Good signing by Seattle?
