Matt Flynn excelled in his last game as a Green Bay Packer when he threw a franchise-record six touchdowns on the Detroit Lions on an en route to a huge victory. He has proven that he can possibly be a franchise quarterback for a team in need of one.
Flynn has been exploring his options, and it looks like he is down to two teams in the Miami Dolphins and Seattle Seahawks. Flynn is visiting Miami today after heading to Seattle the day before. His father, Alvin, expects a decision soon.
"Logic would tell me he would do something this weekend or thereabouts," his father told the Palm Beach Post. "He doesn't want to drag this out."
Alvin liked the visit to the Seahawks, but he doesn't want his son to make a decision yet until he sees South Beach, who recently dropped out of the Peyton Manning race.
Both teams are in need of a quarterback.
The Dolphins have lost Chad Henne to the Jaguars and are looking for an upgradable replacement. They can choose Ryan Tannehill in the NFL Draft, but it seems risky.
The Seahawks could possibly use help as well, with Charlie Whiteburst now signing with the San Diego Chargers as a backup. With that, Seattle is left with Tarvaris Jackson, who kind of struggled last season as starter, throwing 14 touchdowns but 13 interceptions.
My guess is that Flynn will go to the Dolphins, as it's his best bet at being a starter. It's pretty logical.
If he goes to the Seahawks, he will have to compete against Jackson, since Pete Carroll doesn't give up on his guys that easily (I'm a big T-Jax fan anyways). And who knows -- Flynn could lose that battle.
Most likely, look for Flynn heading to South Beach.
