Despite the Bulls beating the 76ers in Game One, something really big happened during the final minute.
With 1:10 remaining, point guard Derrick Rose suffered an injury on his left knee as he tried to leap off his left foot in the lane. Rose had 23 points, nine assists, and nine rebounds in the game.
He was taken immediately to the hospital after the game for an MRI.
"He's going to be examined and they'll know," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said. "He started moving his leg, but they have to do an MRI and all that, so I would be guessing."
Rose hasn't played more than two games in a row since having a foot injury on March 12. He's only played in 39 out of the 66 regular season games due to multiple injuries.
"I just started saying a prayer," back up guard John Lucas III said.
"Saddest win," shooting guard Kyle Korver said.
The Bulls face Philly next for Game Two on Tuesday. If it's just a sprain or hyper-extension, Rose can probably play for Game Two. Hopefully it isn't anything worse.
"I hope he's not seriously hurt," 76ers coach Doug Collins said. "I admire him so much. I think he's one of the young, bright lights in this NBA. And I hope he's going to be back and he's going to be able to play, because I admire greatness, and he's a great player."
If Rose is out, the Bulls have enough depth to get past Philly in maybe six games most probably. However, the second round looks questionable.
