The Cleveland Browns blew their opportunity at Robert Griffin III when they allowed Mike Shanahan and the Washington Redskins to sneak in and trade up with the St. Louis Rams. Well tonight the Browns said, "Not this time." The Browns moved up and got the 3rd overall pick and used it to select running back Trent Richardson out of Alabama. Richardson gives the Browns running game immediate credibility in the AFC North and takes pressure off of embattled quarterback Colt McCoy.
Richardson is strongly built and compact like Emmit Smith and will give the Browns that consistent and rugged running game that is needed to survive against the Steelers, Ravens, and Bengals defense. Many NFL pundits suggest that McCoy is just not talented enough to make the Browns a consistent winner, and many have suggested that the Browns use their other first round pick at 22 on a quarterback.
In my opinion the Browns should use that 22nd pick on a wide receiver to help take some more of the pressure off of McCoy’s shoulders. The Browns should have their choice of wide receivers with Kendall Wright, Reuben Randle, Stephen Hill, and Alshon Jeffery at that pick and all can be quality wide outs in the NFL.

McCoy deserves the opportunity to play quarterback with a decent supporting cast around him to see if he truly has the tools to be upper echelon NFL quarterback.
