During the last day of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins selected Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins in the fourth round.

It seems like an interesting pick, maybe controversial, since they also picked Robert Griffin III second overall.

Could they use Cousins as a back-up to complement, or will there be a competition between the two?

The 6-2 Cousins did pretty well with the Spartans last season, throwing for 3,316 yards with 25 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. He would finish his career with 9,131 yards, 66 touchdowns and 30 interceptions. Pretty good numbers overall.

However, Griffin III did even more. RGIII has a larger skill set than that of Cousins, as he is insanely accurate and has solid speed. He's the playmaker Washington needs. In fact, the Heisman trophy winner did so well last season that he had better numbers than Andrew Luck.

Mike Shanahan really digs the quarterbacks, so it wasn't that surprising of a pick. In my opinion, I see them competing probably, but Griffin III will most likely be the starter anyways no matter what happens. It'll only work for Cousins if he excels big time during training camp.

But it wouldn't be smart by Washington. They traded so many picks just to get Griffin III.

Look to see RGIII just being the starter. As for Cousins, he'll most likely just be a back-up, but a very serviceable one.

Still an interesting choice by Washington, nonetheless.
