Serie B player, Piermario Morosini, died today after suffering a cardiac arrest during a match at Pescara. The Livorno midfielder was only 25 years old.
"...Unfortunately he was already dead when he arrived at hospital. He didn't regain consciousness," says cardiologist Edoardo De Blasio.
This sad, surprising news comes a few weeks after Bolton's Fabrice Muamba suffered a cardiac arrest during a match. However, in a miracle, he ended up staying alive.
"He looked at me in the eyes when he was taken into the ambulance," Pescara's general manager, Danilo Iannascoli, told Sky Italia. "We are living through a drama.
I don't know if the ambulance was late, but I know that the entrance onto the pitch was blocked by a vehicle. Morosini collapsed, he tried to get back up but then collapsed again."
Just some sad news and it shows anything can go wrong, even if it is sports.
Rest in peace.
