Former New Jersey Nets star Jayson Williams is now a free man after spending 18 months in prison.
Williams drove his car into a tree in 2010, which later made him arrested for a DUI. He was also in trouble for his 2002 shooting of his chauffeur. Williams has said he has been in Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, gone through counseling, and taught Bible Study.
"I am eager to see my daughters, my mother and siblings and make amends for what they've been through" he said. "Start my life over with God being first and in the center of everything I do."
Williams was showing off his 12-guage shotgun, before he accidentally shot someone as he didn't check the safety on it. Williams then tried to flee the scene.
The 44-year-old averaged 7.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game in nine seasons in the NBA, including two with the 76ers. He was known for his big six-year, $86 million contract with New Jersey.
Well, he's now a free man.
