After UConn was banned from playing in next year's NCAA Tournament, center Alex Oriakhi has now transferred to Mizzou to play for the Tigers. The 6-9, 245-pound shot-blocker will provide immediate impact for the Tigers.
"Missouri needs a center, and I'm going to be the center," he told the Kansas City Star. "It's a perfect match."
Oriakhi averaged about seven points and seven rebounds per game last season. In his last year of eligibility, Oriakhi plans to produce even more and boost up his rankings for the 2013 NBA Draft.
Oriakhi chose Mizzou over several larger colleges, such as Kentucky, Xavier, Duke, and UNC.
"This is where I wanted to go from the beginning. It was just a matter of me visiting," Oriakhi told the Star.
I look forward to seeing what he does next season.
