UFC heavyweight contender, Alistair Overeem, was looking to win his upcoming match-up against Junior dos Santos on May 26th, but it looks there are going to be a change of plans now.
According to Frank McNeil of ESPN, Overeem failed a drug test and therefore will probably not be fighting against Santos.
"The following athletes were tested on March 27: Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir, Cain Velasquez, Roy Nelson and Antonio Silva," says Nevada Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer. "All test results were negative, except Mr. Overeem tested positive for an increased T/E ratio (10 to 1).
"Mr. Overeem will need to appear before the Commission if he seeks licensure."
The maximum T/E ratio is 6-to-1, which Overeem excelled. His match-up against Santos was supposed to be the highlight of UFC 146.
Looks like they're going to have to come up with something else now.
