The Cincinnati Bengals have had their share of having players who of had run-ins with the law.
But the Bengals are truly people who give people another chance, as they have signed such players like Cedric Benson, Adam Jones, and Jerome Simpson.
Cincinnati recently signed undrafted rookie Brandon Joiner, who did well at Arkansas State. However, Joiner was recently sentenced to three years in prison after breaking the law in 2007, when he was an 18-year-old freshman at Texas A&M.
Bengals players have been pushing to keep Joiner, and Cincy has decided to do so.
"Though it is unlikely he will have any chance to play this season, his contract extends beyond 2012, and the club is choosing to retain his NFL rights at this time," the Bengals said in a statement.
Joiner, in 2007 with a friend named Yemi Babalola, robbed a drug-dealer at gunpoint. They ended up duct-taping the man, stealing his money and drugs. However, Joiner has been trying to rebound with fooball.
"His positive actions during the past five years, including significant community service work, graduation from Arkansas State University and an unblemished subsequent behavior record, have generated a group of active supporters," the Bengals said.
It's nice of Cincinnati to give Joiner a chance at the NFL still despite this.
"In kind, the Bengals support Brandon's future opportunity for a career in the NFL," the team said in the statement.
