Many wondered if the Redskins had true confidence in RGIII, or that they will make a position battle between Cousins and him.
Well, the rumors are now dead. Mike Shanahan made it clear on Sunday that the 6-2, 220-pounder will be the starter for the upcoming season.
"He's the starter. Period."
The Redskins gave up three first-rounders and a second-rounder just to get Griffin III, trading up with the St. Louis Rams a month before the draft.
"We're going to adjust our system to what he feels comfortable with," Shanahan said, "and we'll watch him grow and we'll do what we feel like he can do and what he does the best. ... One thing the NFL is not used to is a quarterback with his type of speed and his type of throwing ability, so I think we can do some things that people haven't done."
Griffin III was practicing that day during Washington's first rookie minicamps.
