However, the forward then made a surprising move in the prime of his career, turning down several NBA offers to play overseas in Greece.
Now that he's back in the NBA, Childress isn't like the player he used to be. Now he's just a bench player on the Phoenix Suns and little-known.
However, Childress broke an NBA record this season, which is kind of surprising. But he indeed did; however, it isn't one he would be proud of.
According to Paul Coro of The Arizona Republic, the 28-year-old broke the record for most minutes played without making a single free throw in a season. Childress played a total of 491 minutes, finishing 0-of-2 from the line.
Childress only a drew a foul once during the season off a putback shot against the New Orleans Hornets. He missed both shots at the charity stripe. However, Childress is not necessarily a bad free-throw shooter, since he is 78-percent for his career, but Pro Basketball Talk points out it's probably because he doesn't want to go up there.
Childress finished the season with three points and one rebound averaged per game.
