Robert Griffin III has been a household name now, especially with his nickname "RGIII." Griffin plans to make the most of it, as he looks to patent and trademark his name along with starting a company for it.
Reports USA Today:
Multiple outlets are reporting Griffin, whom the Redskins drafted second overall last month, hired an attorney following the draft and created an LLC, entitled Thr3escompany. Changelegal.com reports that Griffin also filed applications for trademarking RGIII, RG3, Robert Griffin III and the phrase "Unbelievably Believable."
It's believed Griffin's company will be selling everything imaginable. Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, pants, shorts, footwear, hats and uniforms are speculated to be involved in the patent.
It's unclear when and where Thr3escompany products will be available. But these very smart trademarks from Griffin will prohibit those merchandise vendors you see outside of FedEx Field from making money off of RGIII's name.
Pretty smart, off-the-field and business decision made here by Griffin. Nice.
