Now out of the Anthony Davis sweepstakes from losing the lottery, the Bobcats have their eyes set on guys like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Bradley Beal.
However, according to Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer, the Bobcats are willing to trade down, as they are taking a very close look at North Carolina big man Tyler Zeller.
"Bobcats management has said it's open to all sorts of trade scenarios and the team's actions here confirm that --- the Bobcats interviewed North Carolina 7-footer Tyler Zeller, who does't figure to go before about the 10th pick. Seemingly you do that just in case of a trade down."
Is Zeller really what the Bobcats need? They already have Byron Mullens and Bismack Biyombo in the post, and they have some helpful guards in Kemba Walker, D.J. Augustin, and Gerald Henderson. Really, the main guy they need is Kidd-Gilchrist, in my opinion.
According to our mock draft, the Bobcats will select MKG at the second pick. Zeller falls to No. 11 with the Portland Trail Blazers in our mock as well, so Charlotte could trade with them.
In fact, with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Trail Blazers looking to trade up and go after Bradley Beal, it could be a win-win for both sides. The Bobcats get Zeller and either the Cavs or Blazers get their man in Beal.
Cleveland is reportedly offering the fourth and 24th pick for Charlotte's second. Portland is offering their sixth and 11th. If I were Charlotte, I would go ahead and get Portland's offer.
Then, they can possibly get a guy like Harrison Barnes at the sixth, if he falls far enough; or a guy like Jeremy Lamb or Perry Jones III. Would be a solid plan for the Bobcats.
We'll see what happens with Charlotte in these next coming weeks.
