The Oklahoma City Thunder have advanced to the NBA Finals! Down 0-2 to the San Antonio Spurs, it seemed like their season would end here.
But they didn't give up.
OKC kept fighting and fighting. In Game 3, they killed the Spurs, 102-82. The next two games ended in close bouts, but they held on to win to take a commanding 3-2 series lead.
San Antonio came into the game firing off all cylinders. They could not be stopped and jumped to a 63-48 lead at halftime, with Tony Parker off to a hot start. He would finish with 29 points and 12 rebounds.
However, the third quarter was where OKC started to take control. OKC would go on a 32-18 advantage in the third, which helped stay in the game and take over the fourth.
After the Spurs missed another three-point shot down 105-99, the Thunder headed into the penalty to shoot free throws. From there, Durant hugged his family, knowing there was going to be a victory. And they did win.
The buzzer sounded as Durant grabbed the final rebound, finishing with 34 points and 14 rebounds for the night.
Victory.
107-99. Thunder win the series, 4-2. They completely shut down a team who wasn't ever used to losing.
Now they are headed to the Finals. Such a young team, but with so much chemistry. Durant is only 23 years old, but yet, he plays like a veteran with so much clutch. And with the team not even five years into it's existence are now headed to the biggest game of the basketball world.
Watch out, LeBron and KG.
