Ed Reed was reportedly a no-show Tuesday for the three-day, mandatory minicamp conducted by the Baltimore Ravens.
"I have not communicated with Ed so I'm not sure what the situation is on that," head coach John Harbaugh told Jamison Hensley of ESPN.
With the new CBA, Reed can be fined up to $63,000 for skipping along with another $9,000 for not taking a physical.
Reed has caused some big news lately and it could be connected to why he skipped. Just last month, the Ravens safety told Sirius XM radio that he wasn't 100 percent committed to playing, which shocked everybody. However, he then clarified saying he will play in 2012 and beyond.
The 33-year-old has been rumored to retire for the past few years and his comments last month could also help the reason.
However, it isn't likely and I think in my opinion that he just may have skipped just to skip. He is entering the final year of his contract, where he is scheduled to make $7.2 million.
I'm guessing he will give it one last shot, seeing if he can make it to the Super Bowl, and then call it quits.
