Well, now he did. Team GM Gene Smith said up front to the press that MJD will not be getting a new deal.
Jones-Drew has been looking to restructure his new contract after leading the NFL in rushing last year. Along with that, Jones-Drew is making less than several running backs he's proven he's better than last year, such as DeAngelo Williams, Marshawn Lynch and Chris Johnson.
Although it's very clear that no running back will probably not get CJ-money again, Jones-Drew should be receiving a new contract. He signed a five-year deal back in 2009, which gives him a little less than $5 million per year. Players like Williams and Lynch makes at least $2 million more.
It's pretty clear why Jones-Drew is holding out now. However, with him skipping the minicamps, he could be fined up towards $60,000 now. With Smith standing clear with his decision, he's also very in favor of the Jaguars running back being fined with him now skipping.
Honestly, Jones-Drew is the best player on the team and probably the main reason people watch him. Just pay the man. He's one of the league's highest-paid backs, let him get paid like one as well.
