The New England Patriots have signed tight end Rob Gronkowski to a six-year extension worth $54 million, making him the highest-paid player at his position.
The new deal also has over $18 million guaranteed.
"This is a rare deal," said Drew Rosenhaus, Gronkowski's agent. "Thanks to Mr. Kraft and Coach Belichick."
Gronkowski showed he was a dangerous threat, having 90 catches for 1,327 yards along with 17 touchdowns. He set a league-record for touchdowns at his position, and led the NFL last season as a whole among receivers and tight ends.
The 23-year-old is really becoming something, and if he continues this solid production, he could be one of the greats.
Congrats to Rob on his new deal.
I will spike a football to the ground in your honor.
