Branch, the Super Bowl 39 MVP, became a casualty of the Patriots' youth movement at receiver. He had 51 catches for 702 yards and five touchdowns last season with New England.
The Patriots will now proceed with a group that includes Brandon Lloyd, Wes Welker, Julian Edelman and Jeremy Ebert at receiver.
