Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher tried to hold off on having any type of knee procedure done, but it continued to get worse as training camp continued on.

NFL.com is reporting that the All-Pro had arthroscopic debridement procedure on his left knee Tuesday.

Urlacher is hoping to be ready for the season opener but the Bear's brass is truly not sure. Urlacher sprained his MCL and PCL during the final game of the 2011 regular season but balked at surgery and instead opted for rehab.

He gave a brief statement after practice Monday.

“I don’t know. I am just going to keep resting right now. I have never had a scope. I don’t know how that stuff works. This is the first time I have ever done anything to my knee so I am kind of new to this. I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t know how that works.”

It will be interesting to see how Urlacher responds to the injury and continuous break down of his body after 13 seasons in the NFL.
