With the regular season coming up very soon, the Miami Dolphins have been in a hole on who will be their starting quarterback when they face Houston Texans in their season-opener.

Well, now they have found their man. As ESPN reports, rookie Ryan Tannehill will be their starter as it was announced Monday by team head coach Joe Philbin.

"This is the best decision we can make at the given time," Philbin said.

The battle was between Tannehill and 2011-starter Matt Moore. Philbin says that Moore was professional with Philbin's decision once it was announced.

David Garrard, who was the team's starting quarterback, would have been the man opening up the season against Houston until he was sidelined last month as he underwent knee surgery. With that, the job was open for both Tannehill and Moore as both tried to take advantage of the new opportunity.

Tannehill was selected eighth overall by the Dolphins in this year's draft coming straight out of Texas A&M. He did pretty well in the team's Week Two pre-season game against the Carolina Panthers Sunday night, where he completed 11-of-23 passes for 100 yards, although he did struggle.

It may be a gutsy decision, but in this day and age of NFL football, it's right to start your rookie quarterback right away. Tannehill makes the Dolphins' 17th starting quarterback ever since Dan Marino retired, the most in the league.

We'll see if it works this time around.
