Jay-Z has played a big role for the Brooklyn Nets, despite being a minority owner. According to Nets general manager Billy King, Mr. Carter helped point guard Deron Williams stay in Brooklyn by finding him a place to live.
"When Deron Williams was making his decision [about whether or not he wanted to resign with the Nets], he was struggling for a place to live," King told the New York Times. "Jay-Z goes, 'Tell him I'll call him tomorrow and I'll help.' It's a lot about being able to relate to being wealthy, being young, being African-American. He can relate to them, where maybe I can't or [Nets owner] Mikhail [Prokhorov] can't."
Nets fans can now thank Hov for what he did. If it wasn't for him, we could be seeing Williams as a Maverick.
