Patriots Sign Former Florida Player and Olympic Silver Medalist Jeff Demps

I guess the allure of New York City and the chance to reunite with the holy grail of quarterbacks were not enough to get Jeff Demps to the New York Jets.  Or maybe he just preferred Tom Brady.

ESPN.com is reporting that the former Florida Gators running back and recent Olympic silver medalist will sign with the New England Patriots.

Demps will look over the details of the contract and make an announcement at 5 PM eastern time.  His agents would make no confirmation at this time.

If the signing is true, it would add another toy to the collection of match up nightmares coach Bill Belichick has at his disposal, and add immediate pop to a special teams lacking any big play potential right now.
