Johnny Manziel Manti Te'o

Two out of the three finalists for the Heisman trophy are in hope to make history. Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o are in position to make Heisman Trophy history.

Manziel, and Te'o, along with Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein, were invited Monday to attend the Heisman presentation ceremony.

According to many writers, Manziel is the favorite to win college football's most famous player of the year award on Saturday night in Manhattan. He would be the first freshman to win the Heisman and the first Texas A&M player since halfback John David Crow won the school's only Heisman in 1957.

Now the debate that everyone gets excited about approaching to end of the college football season. Who will win the Heisman Trophy?

A lot of people feel that Manziel is the front runner to win the award, but then again, we as college football fans must realize that in reality it isn't really as simple as people think. Manziel has put up some impressive stats this season, to say the least. As a freshman, Manziel has thrown for 3,419 yards, 24 touchdowns and only eight interceptions.

Te'o is simply a beast at the linebacker position and more than likely will be in the NFL as well. He also has some impressive stats, but not only are his stats impressive, he shows that killer instinct that NFL teams look for in a linebacker such as a Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher.

This season, Te'o has made 103 tackles in the regular season (52 solo, 51 assisted, 8.58 per game). Te’o also led the team, as well as all FBS linebackers in the nation, in interceptions. His seven interceptions during the 2012 season are the most by any FBS linebacker since 2001.

And finally, to Collin Klein. Klein isn't a favorite to win the award, but very well has a great chance to snag it. This season, Klein threw for 2, 490 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has also rushed for 890 yards and 22 touchdowns, which is very impresive for a quarterback.

Manziel and Te'o could both make Heisman Trophy history, as the Aggies quarterback could be the first freshman ever to win the award. Te'o could be first exclusive defensive player to win it (Charles Woodson wasn't considered as he did returning in the year he won it).

So who wins the award? In my opinion, I think Klein should win the award just based on the fact that the award is pretty much for the best college football player overall and he showed in all areas that he can excel and put on a show.

I will not be surprised however, if Te'o or Manziel wins the award because it is so close that anybody can win.
