FIU

Along with implementing his own system on a football team, it looks as if FIU head football coach Ron Turner will have to make some social media rules as well. Defensive back Demarkus Perkins and defensive back Isame Faciane are the ones to thank for that after they made some posts over Twitter this past weekend.

David Neal of the Miami Herald first reported of Perkins posting about a trip to the club. As the posts continued, Perkins began conversing with Faciane on Twitter about the experiences between Perkins and a recruit on their trip to the club.

Both Twitter accounts were deleted Monday morning, so it's safe to assume Turner has already spoke to the team on some rules on social media. Clearly this is a no-no, but the incident does not seem to be something that will bring the wrath of the NCAA onto the FIU football program. Alas, this is the last thing a new coach needs when going into a new season with a new team.

Though the NCAA may also just sweep the situation under the rug, it may have just opened up Pandora's box. This may have given the NCAA the reason it needs to dive deeper into the program to search for any more serious violations.

To add insult to injury, this is the last kind of media Turner needs as he continues to attract new recruits and their families to joining the program. Coaches do not just build a football program; this is also the time where they use such programs to turn young men into adults.

When it's all said and done, image is key.
