You may have been busy watching the NFL Playoffs last night, which leaves many NBA fans out of some awesome basketball action. Don't worry, we got you covered.
Orlando Magic 104, Los Angeles Clippers 101
The Clippers' winning-streak of 13 games at home was snapped on Saturday night against the Magic. JJ Reddick’s late three-pointer with 42 seconds to go gave the Magic their first lead of the second half and eventually the win.
The Clippers held an eight-point lead late in the fourth after Jamal Crawford made a three-pointer, but the Magic rallied as they scored eight straight points to tie. This was Orlando’s first win in 2013, leaving only the Los Angeles Lakers as the only team without a win in the new year.
Washington Wizards 93, Atlanta Hawks 83
The Wizards finally got some good news. John Wall made his season for the Wizards with 14 points and four rebounds in 21 minutes. Washington led the entire second half and have now won two games in a row for the first time this season. The Hawks are not in the same rhythm they were earlier in the year, and have now lost five out of their last six games.
Indiana Pacers 96, Charlotte Bobcats 88
The Bobcats were down by six with 50 seconds to go when Hakim Warrick missed the second of his two free throws that left everyone scrambling for the ball. But in the end, it went to David West, who immediately passed it all the way to the other side of the court to Lance Stephenson for a dunk that sealed the win.
Paul George couldn’t play due to an illness, but the rest of his teammates picked up the slack; most importantly West, who had his first triple-double of his career. Indiana now has won four games in a row.
Philadelphia 76ers 107, Houston Rockets 100
After losing five games in a row, the Sixers had enough. Philadelphia dominated from the second quarter and on.
The Rockets made it close late in the fourth quarter, however a jumper by Jason Richardson and two baskets by Thaddeus Young got rid of any comeback attempt. Jrue Holiday lead Philly with 30 points, nine assists and four steals.
The Sixers got their first win in the last six games, while the Rockets have now lost three straight.
Utah Jazz 90, Detroit Pistons 87
The Jazz outscored the Pistons 25-11 in the third quarter and found themselves with the lead after being down by as many as 15. Even with the Jazz taking over the lead, Detroit had a chance to tie it with four seconds left on the clock. However, Brandon Knight’s three-pointer was blocked and fouled (although it wasn't called) by Demarre Caroll and the Jazz got away with the victory.
Phoenix Suns 97, Chicago Bulls 81
The first quarter had the Bulls winning by a point. After that, the game turned out to be an easy victory for the Suns, who snapped their five-game losing-streak and 12 straight defeats on the road. Luis Scola had 22 points and Michael Beasley scored 20.
The Bulls were frustrated the whole night and were called for four technical fouls. Head coach Tom Thibodeau along with players Luol Deng, Nate Robinson and Carlos Boozer each were called for them.
Dallas Mavericks 104, Memphis Grizzlies 83
The Grizzlies never had a chance. With the red-hot shooting by the Mavericks (11-of-17 from three-point land and Memphis feeling tired from that overtime game against the San Antonio Spurs, the Grizzlies never stood a chance. The Mavericks went to the locker room leading by 15 and doubled that by the fourth quarter, leading 95-65 at one point.
Miami Heat 128, Sacramento Kings 99
This was Mario Chalmers’ career game. The Heat's sharpshooting point guard lead Miami with 34 points, including 10 three-pointers made, which tied Brian Shaw’s franchise-record. The Heat lead by 22 after the first half and the Kings were never close.
