Last night's games in the NBA were some pretty big ones. If you were unable to witness the action that went on, don't worry, we got you covered. The NBA had seven games on Sunday, so let's get this rolling.
New York Knicks 100, New Orleans Hornets 87
The Knicks fell behind by seven after the first period; however, Carmelo Anthony went 6-of-9 from the field in the second quarter, outscoring the Hornets 18-12 and New York never looked back that. Eric Gordon led New Orleans with 22 points and three rebounds. The win ends the three-game losing-streak New York was going through.
Milwaukee Bucks 107, Toronto Raptors 96
The Bucks found a way to rally from a 20-point deficit in the first quarter and to get away with a win. Milwaukee outscored Toronto 33-18 in the fourth behind 19 points apiece from Brandon Jennings and rookie John Henson. The Bucks are now 3-1 under interim head coach Jim Boylan. Amir Johnson led the way for Toronto with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
Brooklyn Nets 97, Indiana Pacers 86
Brooklyn used a 17-0 run in the fourth quarter to go from being down eight to being up by nine points. The Pacers, who were really hot coming into this game with four straight wins, only could score three field goals in the final quarter and only scored 11 total points.
The Nets, who were lead by Deron Williams’ 22 points, have won six straight games and eight out of their last nine since P.J Carlesimo was named interim head coach.
San Antonio Spurs 106, Minnesota Timberwolves 88
San Antonio couldn’t separate themselves from the T-Wolves, but when Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich got ejected with seven minutes left in the game, that’s when it was time to get the win.
The Spurs had five players in double figures, including big man Tiago Splitter, who had a dunk and two reverse layups that helped San Antonio get an 11-0 run going in the final period.
Denver Nuggets 116, Golden State Warriors 105
The Nuggets started the fourth quarter on a 17-2 run, taking a nine-point lead after being down by eight at the start of the period and didn’t let the Warriors come any closer after that.
Denver got a huge lift off the bench with the return of forward Wilson Chandler, who came back from a hip injury as he went for 14 points in 21 minutes. The Nuggets have won five straight games now.
Oklahoma City Thunder 87, Portland Trail Blazers 83
The Trail Blazers, who have been resilient all season long, came all the way back from being down 10 in the final period to having a chance to tie the ballgame. Their comeback wasn’t successful, as star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge airballed a jumper that could have forced overtime.
Even though Aldridge missed the final shot, he still had a brilliant game with 33 points and 11 rebounds for the Blazers, who now have lost their first game at the Rose Garden after nine straight victories.
Los Angeles Lakers 113, Cleveland Cavaliers 93
The Lakers finally got their first win of 2013. Los Angeles was desperate for a win and it showed, as they used a 20-4 run in the first quarter. With that, the game was never in doubt.
Dwight Howard, who wasn’t sure if he was going to play minutes before the opening tip, ended up starting and had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds. Despite ending their six-game losing-streak, the Lakers did have 22 turnovers, with 18 of them coming from their starters.
