Brooklyn Nets star point guard Deron Williams will miss the next two games for the team and won’t play after the All-Star break due to inflammations in both ankles, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY. Williams will miss tonight’s game against the Indiana Pacers and Wednesday’s game against the Denver Nuggets.
The 28-year-old has been averaging about 17 points along with eight assists per game this season. The last time Williams scored less than that average was in the 2010-2011 season, and the numbers of assists haven’t been that low since he was a rookie in the 2005-06 season, which he had about five per game.
The Nets have had and up-and-down year and are currently ranked fiftth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-22 record. Williams came to the Nets in 2011 after he suddenly got traded by the Utah Jazz for Devin Harris, Derrick Favors and two future first-rounders after he played 53 games for them that season.
He re-signed with Brooklyn this past off-season in a $98 million deal.
