West Virginia's Tavon Austin, who was known for his blazing speed and big-play ability on offense and special teams, was named the winner of the Johnny Rodgers Award as the top return-specialist in college football in 2012.

Austin, who is a projected first-round pick in this year's upcoming NFL Draft, was second nationally in all-purpose yardage. He averaged 12.7 yards on punt returns and 25.4 yards on kick returns. He also returned one punt and one kickoff return for touchdowns.

The award is named after the 1972 Heisman Trophy winner from Nebraska who made his mark as a return-specialist.
