The Kansas City Chiefs, like most teams in the past who have had the first selection in the NFL Draft, are starting a new era. They have hired a new head coach in Andy Reid and a new general manager in former Green Bay Packers linebacker John Dorsey.

With seeing recent success of rookie quarterbacks like Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson, many predicted the team would use their first overall pick on a quarterback such as West Virginia's Geno Smith.

However, on Feb. 27, the team surprised many by dealing for Alex Smith, a former No. 1 pick who had spent five up-and-down seasons as quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers.

This makes it clear that the Chiefs have their guy at the helm, and will be looking for another position with their first pick. This leads people to ask the same question: who?

Although it is quite hard to be sure of this time around, here are some possibilities of who will go to Kansas City as the first-overall selection of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M

This is a popular prediction for this spot, as Joeckel is rated the top-overall player on tons of draft boards with his elite pass-protection ability.

Kansas City right tackle Eric Winston was released recently and left tackle Branden Albert was franchise-tagged, meaning that he will only be under contract for one more year. Joeckel may just be the long-term key in protecting Alex Smith, and there is no doubt that he has the potential to do so.

Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan

After an excellent combine, many argue that Fisher is the top tackle in the class rather than Joeckel. He has great ability headlined by terrific coordination, and for the aforementioned reasoning, we also know that Kansas City may just be looking for a tackle.

If the Chiefs do not go with either of the players, it will be interesting to see who is selected first, which could be as early as the next pick belonging to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida

Much speculation about Floyd being selected by the Chiefs has been brought-up recently after he received a private workout from them at the Florida campus. He is considered the top defensive tackle in the draft, and he has clearly impressed scouts in the off-season, starting with an impressive combine.

With his powerful frame and high-upside, Kansas City may be provoked to go with him at No. 1.
