Carmelo Anthony April 2013

Carmelo Anthony has been on fire lately. The New York Knicks forward is averaging 27.9 points per game along with a career-high 2.4 three pointers made per game. His defense is improving as well as his passing. The Knicks are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference, but we've all seen this movie before.

Anthony shows us so much promise in the regular season and then disappoints us in the postseason. Anthony has only made it out of the first round of the playoffs one time in his entire career, and that's unacceptable. If Anthony is going to be labeled a "superstar" and "elite", he needs to show up when it matters most, and that's in the playoffs

He made it out of the first round in the 2008-09 season with the Denver Nuggets, reaching the Western Conference finals but only to be knocked out by the Los Angeles Lakers. By far the most disappointing playoff-exit for Anthony came in 2006 when he was eliminated by the No. 6 seed Los Angeles Clippers. That was the first playoff-series win for the Clippers since 1976.

Now Anthony has everything he wants. He gets to play in New York City, he gets to play on the Knicks and he is surrounded by good players. But he is 1-8 in playoff games as a member of the Knicks and 0-2 in playoff-series. With the Nuggets, his playoff-record was a dismal 12-28 in games and 2-7 in series. In total, Anthony is 13-36 in playoff games and 2-9 in playoff-series.

The time is now for Carmelo Anthony. He needs to seize the moment and take advantage of this opportunity. Hislegacy depends on it.
