Justin Thornton Auburn May 2013The Auburn Tigers have landed one of the top defensive ends in the class of 2014.

Justin Thornton, a 6-5, 225-pound prospect from Vigor High School (Prichard, AL) chose the Tigers over offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Nebraska, USC and Texas A&M, among others.

“I already know coaches up there from Mobile, but to know people on the field, going to war with me every Saturday, that’s big,” Thornton said. “Tre and Deshaun, they’re both great players and I will enjoy the next three or four years, playing on the field with them.”

The four-star defensive end is ranked No. 9 overall by Scout.com and No. 13 overall by ESPN.

“Hopefully, we’re going to have the No. 1 class, and other teams better watch out because Auburn’s back on the rise,” Thornton said.

Auburn has seven pledges for 2014.
